JM has only briefly commented about LTL in interviews, but confirmation has been given by MP in other sources that this premise is basically correct.
Learning to Live was inspired by the AIDS epidemic. Particularly, the "from a common fear... reach for life" passage, but the rest fits snugly with the AIDS theme.
What is Learning to Live about?
Has anyone else noticed that the first few lines of the song are taken verbatim from Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand? Great to see that my favorite band acknowledges my favorite author. JM should write more lyrics...
Neil Peart also writes a lot of lyrics based on the works on Ayn Rand, as well as his other favorite authors.
